यह कहावत हमारे स्कूलों के आँगन में खिलखिलाते, हँसते-खेलते, मासूम और कोमल हृदयी बच्चों द्वारा बखूबी रूप से सार्थक होती है।
जैसे आवश्यकता आविष्कार की जननी है, उसी प्रकार मानव कल्याण मानवीय मूल्यों पर केंद्रित होता है। बचपन में सुनाई जाने वाली कहानियाँ, चाहे वे हमारी दादी-नानी की हों या पंचतंत्र की, हमारे कोमल मन और मस्तिष्क में मूल्यों को रोपने का प्रयास करती हैं, जिससे हम आत्मनिर्भर बनते हैं और किसी भी परिस्थिति के लिए तैयार और तत्पर रहते हैं। यदि नींव मजबूत होगी, आधार सुदृढ़ होगा, तो उस पर निर्भर जीवन भी सार्थकता से परिपूर्ण होगा। यह सार्थकता, यह पूर्णता समाज के उत्थान के लिए अत्यावश्यक है।
यह अनुवाद कार्य इस उम्मीद के साथ प्रस्तुत किया गया है कि यह अपने उद्देश्य को पूरा करेगा। यह बच्चों के मन में पनपै भय को दूर करने और उनमें सकारात्मक मूल्यों को स्थापित करने में सहायक होगा।
मेरे जीवन के दो मजबूत स्तंभ, मेरी माँ और मेरे पति, निरंतर समर्थन देते हुए मुझे समर्पण भाव से काम करने की प्रेरणा देते हैं। उन्हीं के उत्साहवर्धन से मैं संपादक के रूप में अपनी पहली शैक्षणिक पुस्तक आपके समक्ष ला रही हूँ। मुझे विश्वास है कि यह कार्य बुनियादी शिक्षा में अंग्रेजी विषय के शिक्षण और अध्ययन को सुगम बनाने में उपयोगी सिद्ध होगा।

Childhood stories narrated by our grandmothers or by Panchatantra tales, try to inculcate values in our fragile mind and brain inturn making us self-reliant and ready and prepared for any situation. Stronger the foundation stronger is the base leading to a completely meaningful life. This significance, this perfection, is essential for the upliftment of the society.
This translation work is done with the hope of fulfilling its purpose of dispelling fear of English from the hearts of children and instiling positive values in them.
The two strong pillars of my life, my mother and my husband, provide constant support and inspire me to work with dedication. With their encouragement, I am bringing before you my first educational book as an editor. I am confident that this work will prove useful in facilitating the teaching and study of English subject in basic education.
